CSPAN3 Reel America The Pilot District Project - 1971 July 12, 2024

In 1968 following then saturation of Martin Luther king jr. And subsequent riots, the office of Economic Opportunity which created a pilot district project as a model to help improve poor relations between the police and community. According to the National Archives, the are they commissioned a series of documentary and training films to record the implementation of the projects, hoping they could be shown and use as a model for other cities. Despite investing almost 200,000 dollars in the films, they were never released, but instead worsened to a warehouse in maryland.
