The earthquake on sunday you can see danger appears to be all but over. The fire is off highway 37 near highway 29 junction along the napa river. When it looked like theyve had the upper hand, this piped back up about 15 minutes ago. Theyve been dropping water on this. Its been burning since 4 00 here and firefighters have been protecting a row of homes were flames burned up to the homes the problem is that the grass is very dense, and 7 to 8 feet high in places. It takes a lot of water to douse, and there are no hydrants here, theyve been trucking in water. The fire captain tells me this area is a known homeless encampment. We make contact with a couple individuals who are exiting. They did say there are homeless still in the camp that couldnt get out. That did not seem to be the case. And it was a negative on this search. No official cause of the fire, but they do expect someone in the encampment. So far, no structures have burned and the smoke is not affecting traffic out here. Reporter a string of fires lit up the sky in alameda early sunday, sending bay area firefighters racing from one scene to the next on the trail of a couple of fire bugs. This man watched his dry cleaning business of 30 years go up in flames. Its one of eight sites set ablaze in the city in a matter of hours.
