I realize that we have issued more critical appeals in the last fifteen months than ever before, but we have no other choiceour blood supply really is that low, said Caitlin Roach, Marketing Manager with LIFELINE. WBBJ TV April 23, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. Jackson-Madison County General Hospital is asking eligible blood donors to donate as the supply of blood remains low across West Tennessee. In a news release Friday, Jackson General leaders say the blood supply is low, but having a supply available ensures treatment for hospital patients. “Our patients need blood every day, and we must do what we can to increase the inventory, and we must do it now,” said Deann Thelen, CEO of Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. “Our patients’ lives depend on it. You don’t plan accidents and illnesses. You don’t plan the need for blood. We can’t manufacture blood products. WBBJ TV April 19, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. LIFELINE Blood Services says they are in critical need of blood donations. LIFELINE released their inventory numbers for various blood types on Monday. LIFELINE says these numbers were updated at 8 a.m. April 19: O-positive: in stock, 9 units; goal, 142 units A-positive: in stock, 2 units; goal 82 units B-positive: in stock, 2 units; goal, 37 units O-negative: in stock, 6 units; goal 34 units LIFELINE says the need for blood is a national issue, but it hinders LIFELINE’s ability to import blood from other centers, according to a news release. Blood centers across the country have reported declines in blood collections recently, and some, including LIFELINE, have reported the lowest donor turnout in over a year, the release says. ....
