April 30, 2021 By Mike Kruzman / [email protected] A dental clinic that helps local residents with limited finances is celebrating the generosity of one of its earliest volunteers who is heading into retirement. The VINA Community Dental Center in Brighton has been serving the community since 2008, and with them, all the way has been one of their first volunteers, Carol Glenn. Glenn did the intake appointment for the clinicâs very first patient and was known to be a vital part of the heart and soul of VINA. She is known to be quick to laugh and exhibited infectious kindness over her years answering the phone, checking patients in and out, scheduling appointments, and collecting payments. ....

Share WATERVILLE Shannon Haines, who has for many years championed the arts, film, culture and economic development in the city, has been appointed the new president and chief executive officer of Waterville Creates! Haines, 40, of Waterville, starts the job Oct. 1 and will be based at The Center at 93 Main St. downtown. A nonprofit organization funded by foundation grants, Waterville Creates! promotes arts and culture in Waterville and focuses on providing marketing, advertising and program support for its five core partners the Maine Film Center, the Waterville Opera House, Waterville Public Library, Waterville Main Street and the Colby College Museum of Art. ....
Register now for SIU’s Give Kids a Smile on March 12 Tactical Navigation by Christi Mathis CARBONDALE, Ill. Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Dental Hygiene Program will once again be hosting its popular annual “Give Kids a Smile Day” on March 12 for children. However, this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a limited number of appointments will be available, so call early to reserve a spot. The event is set for 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SIU Carbondale Community Dental Center, located west of the Banterra Center. Free dental care for kids The program provides a wide variety of free dental services to children from infants to the age of 14. Included are dental examinations, X-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, fillings and simple extractions. ....

The VINA Community Dental Center clinic fully re-opened last August 2020 and has since taken care of the post-COVID rush of patients that accumulated during the five-month long closure. VINA is continuing to schedule regular check-ups and hygiene appointments for current patients. During this time of the year, the clinic schedules less basic dental appointments - making now the ideal time for new patients to apply and have their first appointment. With the economic impact of COVID-19, officials say many Livingston County residents now qualify for VINA but may not be aware. VINA provides a multitude of services, depending on the dental needs of each patient. Services include oral cancer screenings, fillings, cleanings, x-rays, extractions, crowns, denta ....
The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Community Dental Center is continuing to serve the community, even during the ongoing pandemic, and throughout 2021, the clinic will offer monthly specials to make its services even more affordable. ....
