Why 763 pinwheels are on display in front of Regina's City Hall

A Regina-based organization is raising awareness for child abuse prevention this April by decorating the front of Regina’s City Hall with hundreds of blue pinwheels.
Holding Hope was founded by Sarah Labadie in 2019 after she came forward about her own experience of child abuse.
“One of the things I was thinking about was what could have been done to make my situation better, like by my peers, my teachers and just everyone around me,” Labadie said. “So one of our main focuses is making people aware of the issue, but also making people aware of what they can do to help.” ....

Humboldt Broncos bus crash anniversary to be marked by virtual ceremony

The City of Humboldt is planning a virtual ceremony to mark the third anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash.
On April 6, 2018, a semi collided with the team s bus killing 16 people and injuring 13 others.
The city planned the memorial in collaboration with representatives of the victim s families, the city said in a Facebook post announcing the event.
The service will be livestreamed on the city s Facebook page on Tuesday, starting at 4:30 p.m., the post said.
The memorial service will include performances by local music artists and a candle-lighting ceremony.
Church bells will be tolled at 4:50 p.m., to mark the approximate time the crash occurred. ....

COVID-19 vaccines in the Saskatoon area: Here's what you need to know


Who can get vaccinated now?
On Monday April 5 a drive-thru COVID-19 immunization clinic will begin operating at Prairieland Park in Saskatoon.
The clinic will be inoculating eligible residents with the AstraZeneca vaccine, according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority(SHA). The clinic will be administering the vaccine on a first-come, first-serve basis for residents 55 years of age and older only, the SHA said.
The vaccination clinic will operate between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, and between 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. until the vaccine supply is gone on Tuesday, and according to the SHA. Those seeking to head through the drive-thru clinic will be directed to enter Prairieland Park from St. Henry Avenue.  ....
