And although the company has done well in areas such as conventional insurance, it did not limit itself to that domain. The general insurer has gone beyond that known territory with the objective to bring millions of underserved and marginalised people into the umbrella of insurance and provide them a hedge against health, natural disasters and other risks and shocks. Having begun this journey back in 2011-12, the GDIC in association with the Institute of Microfinance started working in Mymensingh to provide micro-health insurance to poor people in the area through the Community Based Medical College Hospital.
