NEW BEDFORD Prospective recreational marijuana businesses that want to operate in New Bedford must submit applications for host community agreements (HCAs) by Friday, April 30.
A host community agreement is a contract negotiated between a municipality and a marijuana establishment that includes all terms necessary for the establishment to operate in the municipality, according to the state s Cannabis Control Commission.
All applications to the city s Planning Department must include a certificate of compliance with local zoning and a demonstration of site control, among other materials.
The city in 2018 established administrative procedures to implement the state law allowing for the retail sale, processing and cultivation of recreational marijuana.
