Leaders of thoughts under the aegis of the National Consultative Front (NCFront) have said the group is on course towards delivering a new people’s constitution for Nigeria.
Speaking with our correspondent, yesterday, the National Secretary of the NCFront, Veteran Wale Okunniyi, said the committee’s work is on-going and assured that the committee is on course.
According to him, the sub-committee is expected to come up with the draft by the end of May while a conference would be held where the draft would be discussed.

They have vowed to launch a mega political movement to serve as an alternative platform ahead of the 2023 elections, saying a draft people’s constitution would be ready by December 2021.
At a virtual ceremony, they floated the committee co-chaired by Dr. Olisa, Agbakoba (SAN), Dr. Usman Bugaje, Dr Tokunbo Awolowo-Dosumu, and Rev Fr. (Dr) George Ehusani, with Agbakoba as lead anchor, setting a direction for the work and Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed as secretary of the coordinating committee.
But a political scientist, Dr. Gbade Ojo, said while Nigeria urgently needed a third force to arrest the “frustrating federal arrangement”, the promoters lack the “grassroots structure” to actualise their mission. ....

PROMINENT Nigerian civil rights activists working as members of the Constitution Drafting/Coordinating Committee of the People’s Constitutional Dialogue, initiated by the National Consultative Front, on Tuesday, said, a draft of the proposed people’s constitution would be ready by December 2021.
Members of the NCFront, who are driving the process include a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’aba, a prof. of Economics, Pat Utomi; prominent Nigerian lawyers and civil rights activists, Femi Falana (SAN), Olisa Agbakoba, and Mike Ozekhome Awolowo Dosumu and Hakeem Baba-Ahmed among others.

The Constitution Drafting Committee and Coordinating Committee of the People’s Constitutional Dialogue initiated by Leaders of Conscience under the auspices of the National Consultative Front, (NCFront) to save and rescue Nigeria from the precipice and brink of nationwide insecurity and ethnic/civil anarchy held an online event at 2.00 PM on Tuesday 23th February, 2021.
