Nigerian University Bans Students From Wearing Miniskirts, Ankle Chains, Fake Eyelashes, Coloured Hair, Having Tattoos, Others On Campus

The management of Rivers State University has banned students from wearing miniskirts, ankle chains (anklets or ankle bracelets), and false eyelashes. The school management also banned students from having tattoos and dressing in a certain way considered “indecent” on campus. This was disclosed in an Internal Memorandum released by the Registrar of the school, Dr. S. C. Enyindah last Wednesday, October 19, 2022, compelling all the students to obey the prohibitive order with immediate effect. ....

Unilorin resumes academic activities January 11

The management of the University of Ilorin (Unilorin), Kwara State has announced January 11, 2021 as resumption date.
In a statement by the institution’s director of Corporate Affairs, Alhaji Kunle Akogun, said that students would receive lectures online.
The statement reads:
Following the recent suspension of the nine-month industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Senate of the University of Ilorin has approved the resumption of academic activities for the Rain Semester from Monday, January 11, 2021. 
A statement by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, said that the decision was taken at the 285th Emergency Meeting of the Senate, which held virtually via Zoom on Thursday.  ....

LAUTECH ASUU dissociates self from purported resumption

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ladoke Akintola University Chapter on Wednesday dissociated itself from a purported resumption calendar released by the institution’s registrar, Mr Kayode Ogunleye, maintaining that the union members are still on an indefinite strike until federal government meets her demands.
In a release signed by LAUTECH ASUU Chairman, Dr Biodun Olaniran, the union stated that the academic staffs of the institution were solidly behind and involved in the ongoing nationwide ASUU strike and will not betray the struggle to get a better public varsity and welfare system for her members.
He advised parents not to allow their wards waste scarce resources in coming to school which is yet to resume as the academic staffs are still on strike in compliance with the national struggle of ASUU. ....
