HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ - For the second straight county board meeting, commissioner J. Matthew Holt spoke about cautions with the American Rescue Plan funding, which could see as much as $24 million come to Hunterdon County.
The total, Holt said, is what the county was informed about as “earmarked by the federal government.”
The county said it is aware of potential for these funds to legally be allocated for paying COVID-19 pandemic-related expenses, covering lost revenues due to the pandemic, providing additional assistance to residents and small businesses and maintaining critical services and investments in water, sewer and broadband/internet infrastructure, among other possible uses.

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ - The controversy stemming from Hunterdon County’s top elected official, Board of County Commissioners’ Director Susan J. Soloway, being present at the “Stop the Steal” rally in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6, prior to the attack at the U.S. Capitol has carried on as, for the third straight county government meeting almost six weeks later, public comments on the topic dominated the last hour of the board’s session.
Those who chimed in punctuated a public outcry over Soloway’s judgement and support for conspiracy theories surrounding the 2020 Presidential Election, as well as the backlash from her many supporters who decried “cancel culture” because petitioners and protestors sought her resignation from the county board.
