Her husband, Richard Cooper, was a longtime businessman in the community. Her brother-in-law, John Sherman Cooper, was the accomplished U.S. Senator whose image stands on the town square. But Cornelia Dozier Cooper has managed to leave her own mark as well, in a lasting and important way, as a philanthropist, ardent supporter of the arts, and tireless worker for the betterment of Pulaski County. ....
She stated she was grateful to be recognized for this honor. The final award was the Citizen of the Year, which was given to Kari Newman Ness. The award recognizes an individual who has dedicated their life, resources, and service to the betterment of the community. Ness thanked her late father Harold Newman and the continued service of her mother as inspiration to her continued dedication to Jamestown. Later, outgoing board president Mary Lou Urquhart passed the gavel to incoming board president Matthew Pepple.
