Group advocates end to sexual violence | Premium Times Nigeria

A non-profit organisation, Women at Risk International Organization (WARIF), on Thursday, launched a protocol document to combat sexual violence on Nigerian campuses.
The document was developed in partnership with the Joint EU-UN Spotlight Initiative and the
The idea, they said, is to foster the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
The document, whose preface was written by Comfort Lamptey, the UN Country Representative to Nigeria, covers topics like prevention, response mechanisms as well as the important duties and responsibilities of management as well as students in the prevention of sexual violence.

APC Women Demand Equal Representation in Party's Elective Positions

The Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, has demanded an equal representation for women in elective positions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the ward level to the national level.
This submission was contained in the memorandum submitted to the APC Constitution Review Committee when she led a high-level women delegation to the party secretariat yesterday in Abuja.
The minister was accompanied by the United Nations Country Representative, Comfort Lamptey; Chairman, House Committee on Electoral Matters, Hon. Aisha Duku; representative of the 100 Women Lobby Group and other Civil Society Organisations (CSOs).
The APC women, therefore, demanded that the party devote at least 15 percent of the party’s annual budget to increase the participation of women politics. ....

APC women demand 50 per cent of leadership positions

THE Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, on Wednesday, led a high-powered delegation of women, to the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, to demand for a 50 per cent representation of women in leadership positions.
Tallen, who led the delegation to submit a memorandum to the APC Constitution Review Committee, noted that it was time the Nigerian the female gender was given its pride of place in the scheme of things both within the party and in government.
She said, “We demand affirmative action. You will agree with me that women toil and give the highest votes in all the elections. The absence of women in the party structure is what bothers women. We are here to demand for the amendment. ....
