No more campaigning on Saturday, Comelec reminds public

Lawyer Jerome Brillantes, Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Cebu supervisor, warned that the law prohibiting campaign activities that are intended to solicit votes applies not only to the candidates but also to their supporters. For the candidates, Brillantes said their respective legal teams know the limits with regard to campaigning. "They (candidates) know the penalty for this. Don't dare to sacrifice your candidacy because it's an election offense to campaign on the prohibited days. It is punishable by imprisonment of not less than one year but not more than six years.
