Cowlitz flexes muscle in 9-3 win over Ridgefield
Raptors held to four hits by SW Washington rival

RIDGEFIELD – The Black Bears showed their brawn.
Four previous games this summer between the Ridgefield Raptors and Cowlitz were close. The average margin of victory between the Southwest Washington rivals was just two runs.
But a lopsided game finally arrived in the Columbia River Cup series. Tuesday, Cowlitz dominated all facets of a 9-3 win at Ridgefield Outdoor Recreation Complex.
Cowlitz outslugged Ridgefield, knocking three home runs, tallying 11 hits and scoring in six innings.
Cowlitz outpitched Ridgefield, holding the West Coast League’s highest scoring team to just four hits.

In the second of seven games for the Columbia River Cup the Raptors evened the series at 1-1 with the win Friday at David Story Field in Longview. Cowlitz won the first Columbia River Cup game 10-8 on June 2.
KEY MOMENTS: The Raptors scored two runs in the fourth inning on hits by Will Chambers and Grant Heiser. … Chambers singled home Coby Morales in the sixth. Morales had walked and advanced to second base on a balk.
KEY PLAYERS: Ridgefield starting pitcher Ryan Harvey (1-1) threw six shutout innings, allowing three hits with five strikeouts and two walks. His ERA is now 1.72. … Chambers finished 3 for 4 with two RBI and a stolen base.

Four Cowlitz pitchers held the Raptors to four hits, and despite giving up the tying run in the top of the ninth, the Black Bears got two big hits in the bottom of the 11th for the win Saturday to take a 2-1 lead in the Columbia River Cup series between the West Coast League rivals.
