EDWARDSVILLE Possession of between 30-500 grams of cannabis resulted in a felony charge against a Belleville man Thursday, one of a number of drug-related charges filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Jarel E. Ford, 26, of Belleville, was charged March 4 with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, a Class 3 felony.
The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. According to court documents, on March 3 Ford allegedly was found to be in possession of 30-500 grams of cannabis with intent to deliver. ....

Collinsville Police Department receives funds to aid in purchase of new laptops for patrol cars


The Collinsville Police Department recently received a $13,500 check from Dist. 8 Senator Steve Livingston, Dist. 10 Senator Andrew Jones and Representative Becky Nordgren for purchasing new Mobile Digital Terminals.
Collinsville Police Chief Rex Leath said they are replacing all the laptop computers in their patrol cars because they are notably outdated.
Mobile Digital terminal (MDT), also referred to as Police Mobile Computers or Mobile Digital Computers according to www.police-techonolgy.net, is a computer most often a laptop mounted on a dock inside a patrol vehicle used by officers to communicate directly with remote crime information databases while on the field.
“We’ve upgraded these computers twice, and they were at the point where they had to be replaced,” said Leath. ....

EDWARDSVILLE Two people were charged Wednesday in an armed robbery in Collinsville.
Nadia I. Villegas, 18, of Collinsville; and Derrick W. Anthony, 18, of Granite City, were both charged March 3 with one count each of armed robbery, both Class X felonies.
The cases were presented by the Collinsville Police Department.
According to court documents, on Feb. 22 the two allegedly used a firearm to take cash from a third person. During the robbery the victim was struck with the gun.
Bail was set at $100,000 for Villegas and $150,000 for Anthony.

EDWARDSVILLE An Alton man accused of drug and weapon violations was among felony related charges filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office Tuesday.
Andrew L. Mitchell Sr., 55, was charged March 2 with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, both Class 4 felonies; and unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 2 felony.
The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department.
According to court documents, on March 1 Mitchell was found to be in possession of less than 15 grams each of cocaine and Hydrocodone; and also had a loaded 9 mm handgun magazine and several loose rounds of 9 mm ammunition. It was noted that Mitchell has a 2013 felony conviction possession of a controlled substance out of Madison County, making it illegal for him to own firearms or ammunition. ....
