    Leta Joy Culp, born at home on October 18, 1932 in Lamesa, was the daughter of Ethel Strickland and Bonnie Culp, who along with her younger brother, Ronnie, preceded her in death. 
    Joy married Hal Boyd on May 16, 1951 in Lamesa and they were together for 63 years before his passing in 2014.
    Joy was a star basketball player in Sparenburg, in Lamesa for the Golden Tornadoes where she graduated from high school, and for a short while at McMurry College in Abilene.  She was a member of 48 Delphians, Eastern Star and modeled for Collins’ Department Store in Lamesa. 
    Her banking career began in 1952 working as a bookkeeper for 1st National Bank which continued at Lamesa National Bank, concluding her career there as Vice President in 1974 when they moved to Big Spring.  She ended her banking career while working for State National Bank as Vice President totaling her lending experience to about 40 yea ....
