Cornut-Chauvinc Earns Third ACC Weekly Honor

TALLAHASSEE – Florida State junior Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc was named the ACC’s co-Player of the Week on Tuesday, his third weekly honor after earning Performer of the Week and Doubles Pair of the Week on January 17. Cornut-Chauvinc is ranked 12th nationally in singles and boasts a 5-0 record while playing at the No. 1 position this season. All six of his singles opponents have been ranked, and he most recently defeated No. 23 Finn Bass of Baylor 6-4, 6-2 during the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Waco, Texas. In Cornut-Chauvinc’s other match during the ITA Kickoff Weekend, he was leading the country’s 68th-ranked player 4-3 in the third set when FSU clinched the team victory and his match was unfinished. The Lyon, France, native was named ACC Player of the Week and joined with Barnaby Smith to earn ACC Doubles Pair of the Week following FSU’s 5-2 win over No. 7 Georgia. No. 9 Florida State Travels to play No. 16 Florida

TALLAHASSEE – The 9th-ranked Florida State men’s tennis team returns to action Thursday for College Matchday when they play No.16 Florida at 5 p.m. in Lake Nona, Florida.  The Seminoles opened ITA Kickoff Weekend by defeating San Diego 4-2, before a close loss to No. 12 Baylor on Saturday. Florida State’s record now stands at 5-1 on the season.  Florida State is led by junior Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc, who is the No. 12 singles player in the nation. All six of Cornut-Chauvinc’s singles opponents have been ranked, and he has posted a 5-0 record, most recently defeating No. 23 Finn Bass of Baylor 6-4, 6-2.  Youcef Rihane, ranked 24th nationally, is also undefeated (6-0) in singles play for the Noles. Rihane has beaten two nationally ranked players so far this year. Buckeyes Head to Orlando to Continue NCAA Play

Share COLUMBUS, Ohio – After winning two NCAA matches in Columbus, the Ohio State women’s tennis team (23-3) now heads to the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., site of the NCAA Championships. The No. 15 seed Buckeyes will face No. 2 Texas at 1 p.m. Sunday. The winner of that match will take on the winner of a match between No. 7 Florida State and No. 10 Texas A&M in the quarterfinals Wednesday. The semifinals will be Friday May 21, with the championship Saturday May 22.
