Tribute to the innocent victims at a ceremony this morning, lighting 26 candles, representing the 20 children and six adults who lost their lives. They bowed their heads in silence. In newtown, families chose to spend the anniversary remembering loved ones in their own ways and encouraging people across the country to do the same. We ask you consider performing an act of kindness, or volunteering with a charitiable organization in your own local community. We hope that some small measure of good may be returned to the world. Amid the remembrances there are were calls for stricter gun control. A divided congress denied the president s calls for changes and the National Gun Lobby led by the nra is arguably stronger than ever. The call for the change in gun laws was echoed across the country here in the bay area, where advocates held their own remembrance. Intersection of 25th street and florida in San Franciscos Mission district. The suspect was able to get away but police found his car near the mall in daily daley city. We have a crew in daley city where police lead an intense search for the suspect. First live to nbc bay area Kimberly Terry at the hospital. About 3 45 this afternoon San Francisco Police Say Two officers responded to a malicious mischief call which could moon vandalism or graffiti. The officer pulled over the suspects car on 26th street. As one of the officers was approaching that car, police say a witness told them shots were fired. At that point police say the other officer saw the car backing up and hit its weapon hitting the car at least once as it took off. We heard five or six shots. Initially thought they were from a bb gun. Within about five minutes we heard the police sirens

Across, cuts us off and our friend that was with us on a bike. During the chase the police say the suspect threw several times out of the car. We had a couple of citizens proof officers with items discarded from the suspect vehicle, saying he threw this out of the car. Reporter Police Say One of the officers saw the suspect pull a weapon during the pursuit but they have not recovered one at the shooting scene. As the chase ended, police cars swarmed the neighborhood. Witnesses say the suspect car was going slow before it finally stopped. Ly there was no stopping him. It took 23 cop cars to subdue the guy. Reporter now, this is san joses first officerinvolved shooting right now investigators are trying to recover all the items tossed by the driver, including possibly a weapon.
