JODIE Hannan has told of her pride at becoming the first female headteacher of Musselburgh Grammar School, which celebrates its 400th anniversary in five years’ time. Asked how she felt about her new appointment, which has brought her from the tropics to the Honest Toun, the 47-year-old mum-of-three told the Courier she was “delighted”. She said she did not realise she would become the school’s first female headteacher until the present headteacher, Colin Gerrie – who is bound for a new job in Dubai – told her. “That really is history in the making, along with an incredible 400-year anniversary to look forward to,” she added. ....
SENIOR students at Musselburgh Grammar school will remain working from home for at least two days next week. The school took the decision to ask all S5 and S6 pupils to work from home this week following a number of positive Covid-19 cases. News of the decision to extend home working came as it was confirmed a positive Covid case has been recorded at Pinkie St Peter s Primary School in the town. The primary school contacted parents and carers yesterday (Thursday) to inform them that a person at the school had tested positive and a number of people had been contacted who had been in close contact with them. ....

The school took the decision to ask all S5 and S6 pupils to work from home last week following a number of positive Covid-19 cases. Last Friday, it was agreed to extend the home learning period until Tuesday of this week when it was reviewed. And in the latest update, Colin Gerrie, headteacher, told parents: The decision has now been made for S5/6 to continue with blended learning until the end of term and that S5/6 students will return to school when we reopen in January. ....
