to protect american lives by traveling halfway around the world. secretary janet napolitano arrived in qatar in the persian gulf this morning and fox news is traveling with her. we spoke exclusively with the secretary, the department, now trying to reach new agreements to step up security in the world s largest airport. that after that bombing plot to try to explode printer cartridges, bombs aboard cargo plane. national correspondent catherine herridge is traveling with her, streaming live from doha, qatar. reporter: thank you very much. i want to start with theer the attacks in egypt and also nigeria. i spoke with secretary napolitano to ask if she knew who was responsible and she said he didn t have that information yet but her department is still assessing. right now, we don t have any information to suggest that there is a direct linkage between any of those attacks, anything in the united states. but one thing i can illustrate
don t know. anyone who says they do, they are blowing smoke. you have to have this effort. you have to take all this information and in some judicious form, they are always tweaking it, come up with a way to at least have a watch list that you can go to in an effort to try to prevent individuals coming in this country. they are watching. mike maker on the terror watch. thank you. jamie: speaking of terror, how about t.s.a.? they have been faced with criticism over potentially invasive screening procedures at the nation s airport. but how about private companies? if they were brought in, which they have been in some airports could they do a better job. how a move would impact your safety the next time you fly.
we have been working on this in a serious manner. eric: how do you get on the list? someone has to pick up phone and call intelligence, listening in? the short answer yes. when you say it s easier to put names on there, it s not that you slam someone s name on it because you don t like them. there is a process and there has to be suspicion that the individual is involved in terrorist related activity. that is not a simple as it sounds, no matter what opponents may want to say about the process. talking about the watch list and i don t want to say it s efficient system. it s vastly improved and they ve made evidents to change it. you are talking about intense amount of information that comes in every day.
