Navalny phoned two members of the team from Russia’s FSB spy agency, which allegedly tried to murder him. One recognised him immediately and hung up. The second operative, Konstantin Kudryavtsev, was seemingly duped into thinking he was talking to an aide working for a top FSB general. Navalny survived the attempt to kill him in August and is recuperating in Germany. ....

In August Mr Navalny - a staunch critic of President Vladimir Putin - was poisoned with the nerve agent Novichok. He has accused Mr Putin of ordering the attack, something the Kremlin denies. But investigative journalists at Bellingcat and Russian news site The Insider have now published a report implicating FSB agents in the incident. According to the investigation - compiled with the help of US broadcaster CNN and German paper Der Spiegel - a group of operatives from the Russian state intelligence organisation tailed Mr Navalny for three years. ....

An undercover hit squad working for Russia’s FSB spy agency poisoned the opposition activist Alexei Navalny in August after shadowing him on multiple previous trips, the investigative website Bellingcat has claimed. Citing “voluminous” telecoms and travel data, Bellingcat reported that the squad had secretly tracked Mr Navalny since 2017. The operation apparently ....
