There have been several incidents near Cody schools this January, proving that Cody’s drivers need to take school zones and student safety more seriously.
Park County School District #6 Superintendent Peg Monteith was informed of several dangerous encounters between vehicles and Cody school district students, staff, and buses. In just the last week:
A Cody High School student was crossing Sheridan Avenue by City Park when they were hit by a vehicle. The student’s ankle was injured but there was no other serious injury.
A crossing guard at Eastside Elementary School was almost hit by a pick-up truck Tuesday morning. ....

Twin brothers were found dead inside their home in Wyoming over the weekend, as police launch an investigation to determine the cause of death.
The men, aged 61, were discovered just before 5 p.m. on Saturday after a coworker became concerned when one of the men didn t show up for work.
Police responded to a welfare check at an address on Sheridan Avenue in Cody, according to an incident report filed by the Cody Police Department.
One of the men had recently tested positive for COVID-19, however police could not immediately confirm if the virus played a role in the deaths, the force told the ....

CODY, Wyo. (AP) Authorities in Wyoming have said two 61-year-old twin brothers were found dead over the weekend.
The Cody Enterprise reported that Cody Police said one of the men had recently tested positive for COVID-19, but could not immediately confirm if the virus had a role in the deaths on Saturday.

Powell bar not following Wyoming's 10 p.m. curfew

POWELL — Although Gov. Mark Gordon has ordered bars and restaurants to close in-person service at 10 p.m., a Powell sports bar announced Friday that it isn’t following the mandate, contending the state’s rules don’t apply to the business.
It appears to be the first open challenge to the public health orders in Park County.
The Red Zone Sports Bar and Grill made the announcement Friday, after being visited by a Powell police officer early that morning.
The officer had noticed the liquor establishment was still open around 12:10 a.m. and reminded a staffer of the 10 p.m. closing time listed in the health orders; the staffer told Sgt. Matt McCaslin they were allowed to remain open and the officer left. ....
