PHOENIX Governor Doug Ducey today announced the appointment of Coconino County attorney Brian Y. Furuya to fill a vacancy on the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division I.
“Brian’s broad experience in both the public and private sectors, as well as his deep respect for the rule of law, is a tremendous asset to the people of Arizona, said Governor Ducey. I am pleased to appoint him to the Arizona Court of Appeals.
Furuya has served as a Deputy County Attorney in the Civil Division of the Coconino County Attorney’s Office since January 2016 and is a past president of both the State Bar of Arizona and the Coconino County Bar Association.

Coconino County Deputy Attorney Brian Furuya Appointed to State Court Of Appeals
Governor Doug Ducey has appointed Coconino County deputy attorney Brian Furuya to fill a vacancy on the Arizona Court of Appeals. Ducey says Brian’s “broad experience in both public and private sectors, as well as his deep respect for the rule of law” were big reasons for his appointment. Furuya has served as deputy county attorney in the civil division of the county attorney’s office since January of 2016 and is a past president of both the State Bar of Arizona and Coconino County Bar Association. As a Deputy County Attorney, Furuya is responsible for a variety of areas from zoning and health code enforcement litigation to advising government agencies on matters of legal compliance. He has also successfully handled numerous civil appellate cases.
