Subscriber only Queensland Touch Football s Junior State Cup will return to Hervey Bay in July thanks to the support of the Fraser Coast Regional Council. Since the cancellation of the 2020 event due to COVID-19, Queensland Touch Football (QTF) and Fraser Coast Council are excited to bring back the three-day action-packed touch football tournament to the Fraser Coast region. Fraser Coast Deputy Mayor Darren Everard said the Queensland Touch Football Junior State Cup was one of the biggest events on the Fraser Coast s annual sporting calendar and it was fantastic to see it coming back in 2021. This three-day event attracts more than 7000 people to our region who inject about $2 million into our local economy when they spend money with local businesses, such as accommodation providers and restaurants and cafes, he said.

Subscriber only A Ninja Warrior course at WetSide Water Park, car park upgrades at the Brolga Theatre and the sports precinct are among more than $4 million worth of projects the Fraser Coast Regional Council will undertake with funding from a Federal Government grants program. The Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program aims to deliver infrastructure projects to support jobs and local economy resilience to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. Fraser Coast Deputy Mayor Darren Everard said the projects will be completely funded by the Federal Government program which will free up Council funds for other works.
