Centralia Elementary School District wins State Model School Attendance Review Board Award


Centralia Elementary School District (CESD) has been honored with the state’s 2021 Model School Attendance Review Board (SARB) Award for successful implementation of multi-tiered student attendance and re-engagement strategies. Centralia is one of only two Orange County districts awarded this distinction this year.
Sponsored by the California Department of Education (CDE) in cooperation with the California Association of Supervisors of Child Welfare and Attendance (CASCWA), the Model SARB Recognition Program identifies districts that are implementing exemplary practices for student attendance and engagement. State Superintendent Tony Thurmond annually convenes the State’s School Attendance Review Board, which brings together key agencies and community partners to score applications submitted by district and county SARBs throughout the state. ....

Centralia Elementary School District Trustees pass Resolution in support of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community

At its regularly scheduled meeting of April 14, 2021, the Centralia Board of Education unanimously passed Resolution No. 1652 “Supporting People of Asian Ancestry and Condemning Harassment, Violence and Hatred.” This resolution, proposed by Trustee Elizabeth Gonzalez passed 5-0 with all Board members commenting on the importance of speaking out to oppose hate and hurtful acts toward the Asian American, Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. In passing the resolution, Board President Luis Flores expressed a desire to see the resolution be shared with the community at large, broadcasting the District’s position on this matter. ....
