Diskussion Schon vor dem Start der Olympischen Spiele ist das Coronavirus im Athletendorf von Tokio angekommen. Die ersten Corona-Fälle bei Athleten bringen die Organisatoren vor der Eröffnungsfeier am Freitag noch mehr in Bedrängnis. Zwei südafrikanische Fußballer und ein Betreuer des Teams wurden am Wochenende positiv auf das Virus getestet. Eilig verkündete IOC-Olympiadirektor Christophe Dubi: „Wir halten das Risiko minimal, aber es ist unvermeidlich, dass wir einige Fälle haben.“ Zudem musste das Internationale Olympische Komitee auch einen positiven Test beim südkoreanischen IOC-Mitglied Ryu Seung-Min bei der Einreise in Japan bestätigen. Die Zahl der festgestellten Neuinfektionen im Umfeld von Olympia in Tokio stieg am Sonntag um zehn auf nun offiziell 55 Fälle seit dem 1. Juli. „Wir glauben, dass wir die Lage im Griff haben“, sagte Hidemasa Nakamura, der Leiter der zuständigen Abteilung des Organisationskomitees.
