New era begins at Wauzeka-Steuben hoops

Wauzeka-Steuben boys basketball has to move on from some all-time greats. Hall of Famer coach Gary Hines retired and Ridge and Valley all-time leading scorer Carter Lomas graduated and is set to play for Winona State. That loss along with point guard Jake Reichmann graduating means it’s a tall order to build on last year’s 22-3 record.
But the Hornets do return lots of varsity experience. Senior guard and Upper Iowa commit Gavin Ralph is expected to take over that main scoring role after averaging 17 points a game last season, but it will be different without Lomas to help space the floor. ....
