For the first time in 27 years, the Washington University men’s soccer program has a new head coach. Months after Joe Clarke announced his retirement in late November after nearly three decades at the helm, WashU Athletics announced Andrew Bordelon as his successor and the seventh head coach in the program’s history in a statement on March 7.
The Saint Louis native, who played 7 years of professional soccer against the likes of Pele in the North American League (NASL), came to WashU after leading the Saint Louis University men’s soccer program for 14 years.
This past Saturday, the Washington University men’s soccer team (7-8-1) went head-to-head with the University of Chicago Maroons (9-2-5) in the last game of their 2023 season. While the Bears fought hard against the Maroons, they were unable to score. The Maroons, ranked 21st in national rankings and second in the UAA conference, won the game 2-0.
