now there s nothing left of the structure. good evening everybody. thank you for joining us. the woman inside that house incredibly was able to escape. jim smith is live in taunton with this breaking story. reporter: i just confirmed just a few minutes ago with the taunton fire captain that anybody who was inside that house was indeed able to escape and that s amazing when you take a look at the scene here behind me. look at that rubble. it is absolutely incredible. all that is left of this house explosion. i thought a tree fell on my house. reporter: an inferno in taunton a house destroyed and totally engulfed in flames. it was late after when suddenly there was a huge explosion. neighbor took this incredible video around the same time we saw a living inside the house the owner ran out of the house screaming for help. i recognized her we called 911 and assists her. the house went up this flames. in really a matter of 3 minutes, and then within 40 minutes the roof caved
feel the power of this blast. good evening i m jim armstrong. i m kate merrill. the woman inside did escape in time. investigators are searching for the cause of that explosion. jim smith is live in taunton tonight with the story. reporter: this is being investigated as a possible gas explosion but the issue is the cause. what exactly went wrong. let me slow you the wreckage here. this is absolutely incredible. there s basically nothing left of this house yet the woman who lived here somehow escaped with her life. reports of the ground shaking explosion and on fire. reporter: a house destroyed and totally engulfed in flames. it was late afternoon when suddenly there was a huge explosion. neighbor paul saltalamacchia took this incredible video around the same time he saw a woman living inside the house scramble to safety. came running out saw the owner who had just run out of the house frantic come room down the street screaming for help. i recognized her. we called 911
trying to calm that woman down. the last thing he apparently said was the name of his 11-year-old son. lauren leamanczyk was in court. reporter: the widow of clyde francis walked into court ready to face a beloved niece now accused of murder. my heart is broken and all i can do is just look at her and think about the times when we were around her and just wonder what inspired her to snap. reporter: tracy francis and nearly 3 dozen relatives gasped when yvonne lewis powered for her arraignment hunched over and distraught. she fired a gun three times striking clyde francis in the head once. he had been called to this hyde park home by lewis s parents because she was out of control. her family thought francisco calm her down. they were very, very close. this is why i do not understand what happened. reporter: after the shooting prosecutors say lewis took off in her uncle s car while francis 11-year-old son walked upstairs and found him shot. last words was his son name.
