Love Elementary School students show off their donated books. Love Elementary School students received a surprise to start off their spring break every child in the school received a free book thanks to the generosity of the Rotary Club of Jamestown, AM Rotary Club and Moonlight Electric. The groups donated 350 books for the giveaway. “We are so grateful to the AM and Lunch Rotary Clubs and to Moonlight Electric for generously donating a book to each child at Love School,” said Love Elementary School Principal Connie Foster. “This book donation was timed right just before Spring Break so that our students will each have a shiny, new book at their own level to read over the break. We want our students to read every day over the break, and we hope they will keep reading every day of their lives so they can find both great enjoyment from reading recreationally as well as come to appreciate all of the knowledge that can open up to them as they become lifelong readers and

Rotarians Participate In World Polio Day | News, Sports, Jobs

Jacob Schrantz, financial officer for the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, raises his bike in triumph. Oct. 24 marked the noting of World Polio Day for the more than 33,000 Rotary Clubs and their 1,250,000 members in every corner of the globe. The Rotary Club of Jamestown saluted the day with help from Jake Schrantz, financial officer of the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, who collected pledges for riding two bicycle circuits, one of 37 miles and one of 51 miles. The 37-mile ride honored Schrantz’ father-in-law Mike Stronz, a 37-year member of the Rotary Club of Jamestown, where he served as secretary for 30 years. The 51-mile ride honored Schrantz’ best friend and riding buddy John Silo, who died recently.
