From furlough to the FTSE 250: Britain's economy in 2021 explained


The Office for National Statistics this morning found the UK economy went into reverse in November, shrinking 2.6 per cent on October.
Statisticians said new restrictions aimed at curbing the coronavirus, including a second national lockdown, were responsible for the hit to the economy. 
It means the UK economy is still 8.5 per cent smaller than it was in February, pre-pandemic. 
The move potentially puts the economy on course for a double dip recession, where an economy shrinks for two consecutive three-month periods, grows for one quarter and then contracts again without fully recovering, for the first time since 1975.
The economy shrank 2.6% in November after 6 months of growth, meaning the economy could be on course for a double dip recession ....
