RYDE TO STAGE GROUP ONLINE CITIZENSHIP CEREMONIES DURING LOCKDOWN Council received permission to stage online citizenship ceremonies with multiple attendees. Previously during the 2020 lockdown, online citizenship ceremonies were only allowed to take place one resident at a time, but the Federal Government has now given permission for the City of Ryde to stage t hem with multiple attendees. As a result, the City of Ryde will stage three ceremonies on 6 August, which will enable 72 residents to become citizens. This will be followed by an additional six ceremonies on 13 August, which will mean a further 288 resid ents will become citizens. Date Time Ryde celebrates 100 years of women in local government The City of Ryde celebrated 100 years of women in local government with the unveiling of an honour board which recognises every woman who has served on Council. A total of 17 women have served as Councillors for the City of Ryde, with Edna Wilde OAM the only woman to have served as Mayor, a role she held on three separate occasions between 1980 -1982. 1999 -2000 and 2002 -2004. Mrs Wilde OAM was present at the unveiling as well as current serving councillors, Clr Edwina Clifton and Clr Penny Pedersen. and Roslyn Lunsford were also present. ....
