FEARS have been raised over a post-Brexit inland border facility for lorries in Cheshire causing traffic chaos on nearby roads. The Government will use the former Shearings interchange site in Appleton Thorn, south Warrington, as a 24-hour inland border control point for heavy goods vehicles from January 1 after the Brexit transition period ends. There are expected to be up to 300 lorries using the site each day, and development work is currently taking place to get the site ready for operation. However, concerns have been raised over the impact on nearby roads, including in Stretton and at the Lymm interchange. Cllr Tim Martland, of Lymm Parish Council, said: “This is all a recipe for traffic chaos and disruption to journeys for local people. ....
