Watford charity One Vision host awards on International Women s Day

A host of dignataries and guests attended Monday s virtual awards ceremony Individual achievement and outstanding contributions by women to communities in Watford and beyond were celebrated at a special awards ceremony. A total of 13 awards were presented virtually during a webinar hosted by the Watford-based One Vision charity to mark International Women s Day. Monday s event was hosted by Sky News presenter Gillian Joseph and attended by dozens of guests including the Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire Henry Holland-Hibbert and three MPs - Minister for Children Vicky Ford, Shadow International Development Secretary Preet Gill and Watford MP Dean Russell.

Watford Borough Council’s planning committee narrowly approved a proposal to redevelop Cassiobury House in Station Road, by Watford Junction, on Wednesday evening. Tellon Capital received permission for a 13-storey hotel, along with an eight-storey office building on the site of the current five-storey Cassiobury House. Wednesday’s meeting was not plain sailing for the applicants, with several councillors on the planning committee raising concerns about the visual impact the new hotel - believed to be a Premier Inn - and offices will have on neighbouring residential streets.
