One-way system planned for Hart Street in Maidstone to help congestion from Lockmeadow upgrade and McDonald s | Updated: 15:01, 23 February 2021 There is hope that traffic problems experienced in Maidstone will be sorted out before an upgrade to the Lockmeadow Leisure Complex adds more congestion. Members of Maidstone council s economic regeneration and leisure committee met to consider the borough s plans to spend £900,000 upgrading the facility - which it now owns - with a food hall, outdoor terraced seating area and children s play park. Lockmeadow is due for a £900,000 reformatting But while all councillors said they were in favour of the plan, some expressed concerns over adding to the traffic congestion in Barker Road, where the complex is based, and Hart Street, which comes off Barker Road. ....

Maidstone council is to spend £900,000 to make its Lockmeadow complex in Barker Road a more attractive destination. An example of what the food hall might look like, although Lockmeadow s will have eight food outlets The council purchased a 105-year lease on the property in November 2019 for £19million but has been unable to find tenants for two of the restaurant units which have stood empty for four years. Another tenant, Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) has closed and will not be returning to the site. ....
Hazlitt Theatre to continue in hands of Parkwood Leisure, Maidstone council decides | It s back to square one for Maidstone council and the Hazlitt Theatre. Members of the council s economic regeneration and leisure committee tonight accepted a report from its officers that the council should continue with its contract with Parkwood Leisure, the company that manages the Hazlitt Arts Centre on the council s behalf. The Hazlitt Theatre in Earl Street, Maidstone The decision is a reversal of that taken at a meeting in November, when the committee decided to end the contract with Parkwood Leisure and bring the theatre back under direct council control. ....
