The Prime Minister has confirmed the government is working on opening a mass Covid vaccination site for the Medway Towns.
Responding to a question from Gillingham and Rainham MP Rehman Chishti at Prime Minister s Questions, Boris Johnson said the government is looking to set up a site near him .

Mr Johnson also said 127,000 vaccinations had now taken place across Kent and Medway.
Mr Chishti, who spoke in person in the House of Commons chamber, asked for an assurance about whether Medway would receive a mass vaccination centre. ....

Medway expands symptom-free coronavirus testing to all residents

Symptom-free testing has been opened up to everyone who lives and works in Medway.
With five testing centres now up and running, all residents in Medway can now book a symptom-free test providing they do not have any symptoms of coronavirus.
Testing is taking place at the Chattenden Community Centre, one of five symptom-free testing sites
It is recommended that people leaving home for essential reasons within government guidelines - such as for work, medical trips and shopping for basic necessities - take advantage of the service. It is important to book regular symptom-free tests every two weeks. ....

Chatham to get £10m from Government High Streets Fund

Medway is set to receive almost £10 million to help reverse the decline of Chatham town centre.
Minister for High Streets and Rochester MP, Kelly Tolhurst, confirmed the council would receive the grant from the Government’s Future High Streets Fund, which will inject £830m into the regeneration of high streets in 72 areas across England.

The local authority s leader Cllr Alan Jarrett welcomed news of the funding, which followed a bidding process.
The bid was for more than that but it s another step in the right direction for the regeneration of Medway, he said. ....

Half of schools in Medway have been struck down by cases of coronavirus, it s been revealed as critics slammed the government s chaotic response for next term.
More than 250 cases were reported in primary, secondary and special schools with attendance way down and thousands of children learning from home.

The armed forces is stepping down from its efforts to support community testing in Medway.
Military personnel were drafted in to help run special symptom-free testing centres across the Towns earlier this month to identify those unknowingly spreading the illness.

Officials supported Medway Council to host the centres where eligible critical workers and residents could take a swab test at targeted venues in Chattenden, Rainham, Chatham and Rochester.
