LOCK HAVEN Heroes are people who make sacrifice to do things for others.
Military veterans and active-duty servicemen and women are among them.
Emergency first-responders are another.
And, in this pandemic, health-care workers should be added to the list.
That’s just what Downtown Lock Haven Inc. is doing in expanding its popular Hometown Hero Banner Program, in conjunction with the Clinton County Veterans Affairs Office.
Founded in 2007 and emulated by communities across Pennsylvania and the country, the local banner program has, since its inception, displayed thousands of banners on streetlights through the city and Riverwalk.
Marie Vilello, downtown manager, and Cara Montarsi, Hometown Hero chairperson and a local insurance agent, are heading up a committee that is very excited about the next cycle of banners to be formally unveiled next August.
