Theater of the Poor, a low-budget, high-performance theater troupe based in Casper took to the stage at the end of May and the beginning of June to present Mindgames: An Anthology. All of the proceeds from the event were donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and to The Trevor Project. Mindgames, the titular play of the anthology, directed by Wallace Ayers, focuses on a therapist and his relationship with a client, or was it the other way around? ....
Nic Fest Postponed Until 2022 The Nicolaysen Art Museum has announced that Nic Fest, an annual celebration of all things art, is cancelled this year. According to a press release put out by the museum, Nic Fest is being postponed until 2022. This is due to the impact of COVID-19 and the risks associated with it. The 2020 Nic Fest was cancelled as well last year and that, as well as the cancellation of other events, exhibition openings, and a reduction of programing, have caused the museum to incur a financial loss of over $200,000. Attendance at The Nic has decreased nearly 70% since 2019. All of these factors and more have caused Andy Couch, the Executive Director of the Nicolaysen Art Museum, to refocus and to develop a new strategy about The Nic going forward. ....

Clint Saunders, who is an online photography program instructor at Dakota College at Bottineau, dreams of travels that will be possible when the coronavirus pandemic is under control. Last fall’s scheduled trip to Ireland with a group for an outdoor photography course had to be canceled due to the pandemic. A trip planned for this coming September is still on, though Saunders recognizes that it might have to be called off as well. Still, he is staying optimistic. ....
DCB Offers Community Study Abroad Course in Ireland SPECIAL TO DEVILS LAKE JOURNAL DEVILS LAKE- The Dakota College at Bottineau’s photography program is once again planning a study abroad course in Ireland for outdoor photography. This course is open to community members as well as college students. The 2021 trip will mark the fourth year for this wonderful class. Clint Saunders, the head of the photography program at DCB started the study abroad course in 2018. The 2020 trip had to be cancelled due to COVID, but Saunders expects a large turnout for the 2021 trip stating, “If travel can get back to normal by September, I think the 2021 trip will be our largest group. Everyone is ready to get out and explore the world again, and what could be a better place to start than in Ireland.” The trip is scheduled for September 5 – September 12, 2021. ....
