The Kanawha County Commission has officially declared the results of the May 14, 2024, primary election, according to a news release sent on May 20, 2024.
Kanawha County saw a voter turnout of 29.4% in Tuesday night’s primary and nonpartisan election.
At the last presidential primary election, Kanawha County had a voter turnout of 39.6%.
County Clerk Vera McCormick said she wasn’t sure exactly why the turnout was lower.

The Kanawha County Commission approved several voting precinct changes at their Thursday night meeting. County Clerk Vera McCormick said most of the changes are for efficiency and won t change the polling places for voters. About seven of the changes will change a polling place for some voters. Letters will be sent out in the next few weeks to notify affected voters.
