South Carolina: High-tech farming brings in 1,500+ jobs
An agribusiness cluster in Hampton County, South Carolina, will make use of 1,547 individuals in rising, packing and transport tomatoes, leafy greens, blueberries and other produce. The organization will use a cutting-edge method, referred to as Managed Surroundings Agriculture.
The $314 million Agriculture Expertise Campus is a three-way partnership including a number of greenhouses and hoop-houses, a 150,000 ft2 distribution heart, and a big co-packer centrally positioned throughout the cluster.
The project at the Southern Carolina Industrial Campus in Early Branch was announced with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue joining Governor Henry McMaster and Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers at the site.
