RMC ensures clean Ranchi lake, plans to set up STP soon | Ranchi News


Ranchi: Ranchi Municipal Corporation’s (RMC) continuous efforts to clean water hyacinth from Vivekananda Sarovar, commonly known as Bada Talab, have borne results now. Officials said that a team of 22 staffs and civil body officials have been working on it for months to ensure proper cleaning.
RMC deputy municipal commissioner Shankar Yadav on Thursday said, “Not all cities have such large waterbody in its heart. There have been instances where poor upkeep affected the lake’s surface area. Now, we have worked hard to ensure that it is completely clean.”
He added that soon after the end of the festival season, they pressed a dedicated team to clean the lake. “Almost 95% of our total staff was engaged in cleanliness and sanitation drives at several containment zones after the outbreak of the pandemic and it continued till the month of July. But soon after the number of containment zones reduced, we reworked the deployment of our workers to ensure that the waterbo ....

The prime minister has recently said that by 2030, 60 percent of all energy produced in the country will be ‘clean’ and produced through renewable resources. We should endorse the prime minister’s strong commitment towards climate change considering the fact that our country contributes less than one percent of global emissions. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), Pakistan has the potential for producing 50,000MW of electricity through wind turbines. The country produces a large amount of municipal waste (approximately 50,000 tonnes per day) which it can use to generate 5,000MW of power. It also receives an average of nine and a half hours of sunlight daily which can be used for power generation. ....
