UPDATE: Macomb County man dies after crashing snowmobile into barge in Clay Twp

A 29-year-old Macomb County man died after crashing his snowmobile into a barge on a canal in Clay Township. Police were called to a canal within the 7300 block of Dyke Road for a report of a single snowmobile crash shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday, according to the Clay Township Police Department. The caller said the snowmobile appeared to have been there for some time.  First responders found a snowmobile with a single rider that had collided with a barge on the canal.  Police said the man was pronounced dead on the scene.  The crash remains under investigation.  Clay Township Fire Department, St. Clair County Sheriff Department and Tri-Hospital EMS also assisted at the scene. 

Local first responders present Parade of Hope

Participants include the Columbus Police Department, Bartholomew County Sheriffs Office, Hartsville Fire Department, Elizabethtown Fire Department, Clay Township Fire Department, Columbus Regional EMS, Hope Fire Department, and Clifford Fire Department.
