San Francisco’s Chinatown is the oldest Chinatown in North America and the largest outside of Asia. The rectangular neighborhood of 24 square blocks remains a highly influential enclave of Chinese history and culture, and the community hosts multiple parks, a pair of hospitals, several churches and town squares.
According to a San Francisco Chronicle article from 2017, more people visit the city’s Chinatown every year than the Golden Gate Bridge, making it one of the city’s most popular tourist destinations.
