Uri fails to deliver snowfall, leaves local area under a layer of ice

While winter storm Uri failed to reach forecast snowfall totals in southeastern Ohio, it did leave Guernsey and surrounding counties covered in a layer of ice.
Measurements taken at the Cambridge Water Treatment Plant indicated 0.44 inches of precipitation fell locally in the form of freezing rain.
No new snowfall was reported, leaving approximately 4 inches of the wintry white cover on the ground.
Weather Channel forecasts for Tuesday and Wednesday showed less than a 20% change of snow before a new round of snow is expected on Thursday when 3 to 6 inches of snow is forecast during the day and night. ....

Law enforcement agencies respond to more than 35 crashes on snow-covered roadways

Five members of a Salesville area family escaped with only minor injuries when the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a rollover accident on Fairground Road Wednesday afternoon.
The driver, Madelyn Caughron, 39, and four children, Becky, 15; Jennifer, 11; Timothy, 8; and Jimmy, 5, were treated at the scene by medical personnel from the Old Washington Volunteer Fire Department.
The accident was one of more than 35 crashes reported on snow-covered roadways in Guernsey and Noble counties as a storm moved through southeastern Ohio leaving behind several inches of snow. ....
