Kimera Automobili EVO37 set loose as tribute to Lancia 037

Racing team and Italian engineering firm Kimera Automobili has revealed a restomod version of the iconic Group B rallying Lancia 037.
It joins cars like the David Brown Automotive Mini Remastered and the GTO Engineering Squalo in the rapidly expanding restomod sector, and will be officially unveiled at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed.
It’s powered by a heavily re-engineered version of the 2.1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine from the original 037. But, where the rally car produced around 270bhp and 300Nm of torque, the Kimera EVO37 has 498bhp and 550Nm.
The unit shares the same dry sump block as the 037 rally car, but every other component in the engine has been changed. To reach the new power output the engine has been twin-charged. There’s a roots-type supercharger, like the original rally car, as well as a turbocharger, which is bolted to a bespoke stainless steel manifold. ....

Legendary Lancia 037 Reimagined For The Modern Era

The modern-day 037 rides on 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels wrapped in wide Pirelli tires. Under the hood, the Kimera EVO37 is powered by a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine like the original. However, the unit was redesigned by Claudio Lombardi, who built the engines of the original rally cars, and it was upgraded to produce more than 500 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. That s all sent to the rear wheels through a manual transmission.
Production of the EVO37 will be restricted to, naturally, 37 examples, each costing €480,000 ($585,000). Before customer deliveries begin in September, the Kimera EVO37 will make its public debut at the 2021 Goodwood Festival of Speed in July. ....

Lancia 037: WRC legend reborn as 500bhp Kimera Evo37

Italian motorsport outfit Kimera Automobili has revealed a significantly modernised and heavily uprated take on one of the most successful rally cars of all time: the Lancia 037.
The road-legal Evo37 is based on Lancia s fearsome mid-engined World Rally Championship (WRC) contender, which is remembered for being the final rear-driven car to win the top-flight series.
Kimera refers to the Evo37 as a tribute to those legendary cars of the 1980s protagonists of the WRC .
The project was completed with contributions from suppliers and engineers who also worked on Lancia s original racer, including engineers Sergio Limone and Vittorio Roberti and two-time WRC champion Miki Biasion. ....

Kimera Automobili 037 restomod revealed – new-build rally icon returns

Italian outfit Kimera Automobili has revealed its interpretation of the iconic Lancia 037 homologation road car, releasing a limited run of 37 units that will cost from around £415,000. The Kimera Automobili 037 is not built from one of the few, and very special originals, but built from scratch in a similar construction method with modern materials and techniques.
The chassis itself is a bespoke monocoque built from tube steel, with subframes directly welded to it on either side. The steel structure is then clothed in bespoke carbonfibre panels, replacing the original kevlar composite units.
Like the original homologation car, the forged double wishbone suspension has a long-travel design, with dual Ohlins dampers flanking the separated spring at the rear and a more compact coilover design on the front end. ....
