Athens-Clarke police are trying to identify a carjacker who fired a gun at the vehicle s owner early Wednesday morning outside a motel in west Athens.
The carjacking occurred about 6 a.m. at a motel off Classic Road, which intersects  Atlanta Highway west of Georgia Square mall.
Police said the victim, a 20-year-old man from Spartanburg, S.C., had gotten in his car when the suspect broke the driver’s side window with a firearm to gain entrance.
When the victim escaped the Lexus sedan, the suspect fired a round at the man, who was not hit, according to police spokesman Lt. Shaun Barnett. ....
