LANGDON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The defending Class B State Champs held the Rockets of New Rockford/Sheyenne scoreless in the entire second quarter and led 26-8 at halftime. In the second half, the Cardinals of Langdon Area/Edmore/Munich outscored NR-S 18-15 to secure the victory in the quarterfinal round of the Region 4 girls basketball tournament 44-23 Monday night. The Rockets end their season at 10-10 overall, LAEM improves to 16-6 overall.
The Rockets were led by Freshman Kelsie Belquist with eight points off the bench, Senior Cassie Longnecker added five, including the Rockets only 3-pointer. The Cardinals were led by two players with nine points each, Junior Morgan Freije and Freshman Jaya Henderson. Henderson dropped in two 3-pointers.
