Fourth sailor to die from the coronavirus in February remembered as 'amazing father,' 'treasured friend'

WASHINGTON The Virginia-based sailor who died from the coronavirus earlier this week was a 39-year-old from California, the Navy announced Wednesday.
Chief Petty Officer Justin Huf, a hull technician, died Monday in the intensive care unit at Norfolk’s Sentara Leigh Hospital, according to the Expeditionary Strike Group 2.
Last Tuesday, Huf had symptoms of the virus and was isolated. On Friday, he tested positive for the virus and was hospitalized the next day, according to the Navy.
Huf was assigned to Assault Craft Unit 4 based at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek in Virginia Beach at the time of his death. His unit operates air-cushioned landing craft, which are high-speed vehicles that transport people, weapons and equipment from ship to shore, according to the Navy. ....

A Navy sailor in Virginia died this week from complications connected to COVID-19, the service announced on Tuesday.
The sailor, who was part of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek’s Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 4, died on Monday after checking into a hospital in Norfolk, Va., on Saturday, according to a Navy statement. ....

The U.S. Navy on Wednesday identified a sailor who died of COVID complications on Monday as Chief Hull Technician Justin Huf, 39.
Assigned to the Virginia-based Assault Craft Unit 4, Huf tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and was admitted to Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk the following day, the Navy’s Expeditionary Strike Group 2 said in a statement.
“Huf was in the (intensive care unit) at the time of his death,” the unit said. “Sailors who were in contact with Huf have been notified and are taking the appropriate precautions.” ....
