CBSE Class 12 Board exams: At least 300 students write to CJI against offline examinations

New Delhi: At least 300 students of Class 12 on Tuesday (May 25) sent a letter petition to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana urging him to halt the decision of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to conduct the physical exams in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This comes after a meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday, where the CBSE Board suggested two options – first, to hold regular exams for only the major 19 subjects at notified centres. While the second option was to shorten the duration of the exam – to hold 90-minute exams at the school where students are enrolled. ....

Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia spoke to India Today TV and said that there would be no one more foolish than us if despite knowing the dangers, we go ahead with board exams now.
The CBSE board exam 2021 will likely be held between July 15 and August 26 amidst all Covid-19 safety protocols and the details and format would be announced by Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on June 1. Delhi Deputy CM and Education Minister Manish Sisodia is amongst those completely against conducting the board exams amidst the pandemic.
A high-level meeting was held on Sunday with the education ministers of all the states to discuss the possibility of the CBSE, CISCE, states board exams and other entrance exams in light of the second wave of Covid-19. ....

Conducting Class 12 board exams before vaccinating students can prove to be a big mistake, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia told the Centre on Sunday.
Sisodia made the suggestion at a high-level meeting called by the Ministry of Education which is currently underway.
