Kerry Councillor John Francis Flynn from Killorglin said that all schools in mid-Kerry should be closed after the outbreak.
Speaking on RTÉ Radio One’s Today with Claire Byrne the Fianna Fail Councillor said: “It’s the responsible thing to do, to close all schools in mid-Kerry.”
He stressed that since it’s in the Killorglin primary school it’s in the community and everyone must be careful, not just those who have contacts with pupils in the school.
On Newstalk today, he said: “I don’t want people to be complacent, this is in our community as it’s been seen in our school. We don’t want people being careless over the next few days. We have to be aware that this is very much in our community.”
